LOS ANGELES (CelebrityAccess) Ava Max made a splashy appearance at Wembley Stadium this past weekend when she made her official debut at CaptialFM’s Summertime Ball in front of 80,000 people.
“Ava Max may be a newcomer onto the scene but her Summertime Ball performance was one to remember with some of the catchiest tunes right now,” Capital reported on its website. “She’s had probably the biggest year of anyone on the line-up to date, rising from relative obscurity to one of the biggest stars right now.”
Born Amanda Ava Koci, the American singer/songwriter may have grown up in Virginia and spends her professional hours in Los Angeles, but she has gathered a worldwide following because of “Sweet But Pscyho,” the third single she released. The song dropped in August and reached No. 1 in more than 20 countries including Sweden, Finland and Norway. In January, it reached the top of the Billboard Dance Club Songs chart. The single “So Am I” was released in March.
Max’s debut studio album is expected to feature the two singles, plus “Salt.” Meanwhile, her avid following has already been dubbed “Avatars.”
We asked a couple of questions of Max’s agents at CAA, Kasey McKee and Shirin Nury.
How did you run into this artist?
McKee: We were originally tipped off by our friends at Artist Publishing Group (APG), and then officially introduced by our friends at Full Stop Management. We trust, value and enjoy working with both of these teams. Honestly, meeting Ava for the first time was like love at first sight. Her style, personality, passion, excitement…she is magnetic.
Why did you sign her?
McKee: She had that undeniable “It” factor that we don’t run into very often. The music is fantastic, she is extremely talented, and she has a voice and message that deserves to be heard. She embodies the positive message that it’s okay to be different and pushes her audience to embrace and value their differences. We believe she has the ability to not only become a music icon, but also a valuable role model.
Where do you think she’ll be in the next year?
Nury: In the next year, we’ll see Ava releasing an incredible catalog of new music, going on her first worldwide headline tour, and continuing to grow her fanbase of “Avatars.”
Is there a five-year plan?
Nury: The main focus for our team is to strategically build a sustainable touring career – one that spans generations and paves the way to world domination.
