CRANBERRY TOWNSHIP -- The Pittsburgh Penguins kicked off their 2018 prospect development camp today at the U.P.M.C Lemieux Sports complex in Cranberry.
In all, 13 players drafted in the past three years took the ice, including all four of this year's draft class (Calen Addison, Filip Hallander, Justin Almeida, and Liam Gorman).
The camp rolls through Friday and is run by Wilkes-Barre/Scranton head coach Clark Donatelli.
General Manager Jim Rutherford was also on hand, and 6 Sports was there as he discussed a few roster moves that have transpired over the past few days.
Rutherford has signed forwards Bryan Rust and Riley Sheahan, and is believed to have signed free agent defense-man, formerly of the Columbus Blue Jackets, Jack Johnson to a five year deal.
Although the Johnson signing won't become official until NHL Free Agency begins on July 1st.
To make space for these moves Rutherford traded winger Connor Sheary and defense-man Matt Hunwick to Buffalo this afternoon in exchange for a 2019 4th round pick, which freed up over five million dollars against the salary cap.
